AIM Photo Contest

Here's a few more photos I entered for AIM's photo contest from my Swaziland trip in '07. They're not technically sound/taken with a point and shoot but I think they fit their criteria of capturing ministry a little better than my Thailand photos.

Camden Yards - My Favorite Place on Earth

I went to the game tonight with Bob and Ryan. The O's were trying to extend their winning streak to six, but lost 6-3. Guthrie had 10 strike outs; Luke Scott hit another homer (6 in 4 games); and saw Matt Wieters first major league hit- a triple.

The first shot was with my Nikon 50mm @ f/8. The second shot was my Tamron 17-50mm @ 17mm - f/8. I'm debating about changing up my lens line-up. I would like the Tokina 11-16mm or the new Nikon 10-24mm. I'm not a big fan of this Tamron 17-50mm. The distortion is really annoying and kind of complicated to fix.

AIM Photo Contest

Adventures In Missions is having their first photo contest. Brilliant! First prize is $3k! That is fantastic, especially since it's free to enter. The theme revolves around ministry abroad from an AIM trip. You can enter here; check out the entries here. I don't know how they're going to judge, there are so many good photos. It's been inspiring to look through the entries. I love the stories that go along with them.

It's a long shot, but I entered these photos:

Down'a Ocean With the Boys

I have at least 30 photos I've been trying to upload for the last three days. Not sure if there's a problem with my laptop or the network here. This picture of Ryan took an hour to upload; I'll try again later.

Fighting On Our Faces

Tonight, we met for our weekly prayer meeting to seek the Lord with our proposed move to Candlewood. The presence of the Lord was there and He spoke peace over the room. We will follow the LORD; focusing on the journey, not so much the destination.

Star Trek

Jacob (my brother) and I decided to drive up to Pennsylvania tonight solely to take photos of the stars. Nearly hitting a deer at 65mph and another at 40mph, oh and two raccoons too; a McDonalds feasts, and ending up in some really creepy woods, I think think the results were worth it.

"you should see the stars tonight
how they shimmer shine so bright
against the black they look so white
coming down from such a height
to reach me now, reach me now

you should see the moon in the flight
cutting cross the misty night
softly dancing in sunshine
reflections of this light
reach me now, you reach me now

and how could such a thing
shine its light on me
and make everything beautiful again

and you should feel the sun in the spring
coming out after a rain
suddenly all is green
sunshine on everything
I can feel it now, i feel you now

and how could such a thing
shine its light on me
and make everything beautiful

and you should hear the angels sing
all gathered round their king
more beautiful than you could dream
I've been quietly listening
you can hear 'em now, i hear em now

and how could such a king
shine His light on me
and make everything beautiful
and i wanna shine
i wanna be light
i wanna tell you it'll be alright
and i wanna shine and i wanna fly
just to tell you now
it'll be alright, it'll be alright
it'll be alright.

'Cause I got nothing of my own to give to you
but this light that shines on me shines on you
and makes everything beautiful, again.
it'll be alright, it'll be alright."

Still playing with the reversed 50mm.

I Hate These Buggers

I really really hate these bugs. They are infatuated with the sun and incredibly horny. All they do is mate and die. I find them digging holes in my window screen, sometimes making it into my room. GAH!

I bought a new Nikon 50mm f/1.8D today. I reversed it on my D90 to get this shot.

Matt and Candy's Engagement

Matt and Candy are tying the knot later this summer. This was a pretty special shoot for me. Not only was it my first official engagement session, but these guys are friends of mine. I grew up with Candy at Halethorpe Community Church and now we go to Living Hope Church. I went elementary school with Matt. Candy and Matt met each other about three years ago and then Matt and I were reunited when he started going to LHC. Pretty cool that I knew them separately over 10 years ago, now I took their engagment photos.

Party at the Grimelli's

If you stumble into this person's yard, knock on their door and ask them to make you ribs. They were awesome. Had a nice relaxing time with the Living Hope family tonight. Join us for worship tomorrow! http://livinghopechurch.info

Wonderful Wednesday

I was tempted O' so much in Guitar Center, thankfully I managed only to walk out with a pack of strings.

The dogs enjoyed the beautiful weather while we were gone. I don't feel bad for leaving them out all day- they're dogs, people... not babies.

The Lord's Blessing

Sorry for the lack of updates. This past week has been one of the busiest weeks in quite some time. I appreciate everyone who checks out my blog, it means a lot to me. I'll be posting more photos soon.

Here's just a quick story of a simple blessing from God today. I've been trying to spend less on food lately; I seriously border gluttony. Today I brought a couple sandwiches from home to get me through my 12 hour shift at Damon's. I ate the first one for breakfast on the way to work and around noon I started on the second. I cut the sandwich in half and I felt like the Lord was asking me to give the other half to one of the bussers. I was happy to do so, but not wanting to spend money on food later I prayed, "Lord, please sustain me and give me the energy to make it through the day." He enjoyed the sandwich.

About 10 minutes later, I took a fillet Mignon out to a table only to find out that it wasn't cooked to his liking. He had surgically cut it open to see it was too pink and because of that, we could not put it back on the grill to cook it longer; a new one had to be cooked. Realizing he hadn't began to eat it, nor contaminate it in anyway, I found myself with a free fillet- cooked exactly the way I like! Not too bad: day old chicken sandwich upgraded to a fillet Mignon! Thanks Lord!

It was just a reminder of God's faithfulness and love. When we obey Him, he notices and he will bless us. Next time you get that tug at your heart to sacrifice something, just remember he will bless you with a fillet- if not now, definitely in heaven!
